My 2021 Reading Plan

So, we are starting off my 2021 reading year with the Annual Reading Plan. This post has to be my favourite one to write! I love planning the year ahead and setting myself some goals.

I was a lot more spontaneous last year, allowing myself to pick up what ever book I felt like reading rather having everything planned out. I wanted to shake things up slightly this year with the upcoming challenges. I will be trying new genres, reading translated books from varying countries and trying to complete a massive physical TBR!

How many books do I plan to read for 2021?

I plan on reading 58 book for 2021! I read 63 books last year which was amazing but when I take away the DNFs, it actually comes down to 56 books. I want to make sure I read slightly more than last year. I hope to be able to do this as since I started logging my reading I haven’t failed a challenge though I do believe this is going to be harder.

2020 Sequels

I was really successful last year and I always do this challenge as it makes me accountable for all the series I have going on. This challenge basically means I must read at least one sequel of an on-going series I am currently reading. My plan is to read 1 sequel a month, since I have 12 series on-going at the moment

These sequels include:

  1. The Alloy of Law – Brandon Sanderson (Book 1/4 – Wax and Wayne (Mistborn Era 2))
  2. The Fall of Babel – Josiah Bancroft (Book 4/4 – The Books of Babel Quartet)
  3. Sword of Destiny – Andrezj Sapkowski (Book 2/9 – The Witcher)
  4. The Shadow Rising – Robert Jordan (Book 4/15 – The Wheel of Time)
  5. Red Seas Under Red Skies – Scott Lynch (Book 2/7 – Gentleman Bastard)
  6. The Mystery of Three Quarters – Sophie Hannah (Book 3/4 – The New Hercule Poirot Mysteries)
  7. Lord Edgware Dies – Agatha Christe (Book 9/43 – Hercule Poirot)
  8. The Inugami Curse – Seishi Yokomizo (Book 2/34 – Detective Kosuke Kindaichi)
  9. Guards! Guards! – Terry Pratchett (Book 8/43 – Discworld)
  10. Fullmetal Alchemist Vol. 4 – Hiromu Arakawa (Book 4/9 – Fullmetal Alchemist Omnibus Edition)
  11. The Blinding Knife – Brent Weeks (Book 2/5 – Lightbringer)
  12. The Battle of the Labyrinth – Rick Riordan (Book 4/5 – Percy Jackson and the Olympians)

The ONTD Reading Challenge

This is another challenge I will be repeating this year. I had so much fun last year but my original plan was to try out a completely different challenge. I wanted to try something new but before I made that decision I wanted to see what prompts they had planned for 2021. Most of the time the prompts follows a specific theme or genre etc. But this year is all about countries. The focus is to branch out and try new authors you might not consider due to them being from different countries. This is just what I wanted with my new challenge. A change in pace. Physical TBR

I have just over 50 books on my Physical TBR and I want to give myself the challenge of the majority of the list. I do have other books planned for other challenges. So I want to read 30 books from my Physical TBR.

Any mediums you plan to read more of?

Since starting this blog I have always challenge myself to read more of a specific type of genre. But this year, I wanted to shake it up and choose a medium rather than a genre!!

For medium, I would like to read more Graphic Novels/Manga. I have read a couple of graphic novels and manga over the past couple of years and I am a massive fan of them so I want to venture out and read more from this medium. I have 3 manga and 1 graphic novel that I already own. So I am looking forward to it!

So, there you go! No we go back to our regularly scheduled programming.

If you are new, please expect a bookish related post on Mondays and book reviews on Thursdays!
