It’s that time of year again where I promote a couple of books that I feel DO NOT get enough hype in the bookosphere!!

- Title: At Midnight
- Editor: Dahlia Adler
- Series: Standalone
- Format: Paperback
- Age Rating: YA
- Genre: A mix
Plot: Fairy tales have been spun for thousands of years and remain among our most treasured stories. Weaving fresh takes and unexpected reimaginings, At Midnight brings together a diverse group of celebrated writers to breathe new life into our beloved traditions.
Some absolutely amazing short stories in here! One of my faves was the Hansel and Gretel story by Roselle Lim.

- Title: A Master of Djinn
- Editor: P Djeli Clark
- Series: Dead Djinn Universe #1
- Format: Paperback
- Age Rating: Adult
- Genre: Historical Fantasy
Plot: Cairo, 1912: Though Fatma el-Sha’arawi is the youngest woman working for the Ministry of Alchemy, Enchantments and Supernatural Entities, she’s certainly not a rookie, especially after preventing the destruction of the universe last summer. So when someone murders a secret brotherhood dedicated to one of the most famous men in history, al-Jahiz, Agent Fatma is called onto the case. Al-Jahiz transformed the world 50 years ago when he opened up the veil between the magical and mundane realms, before vanishing into the unknown. This murderer claims to be al-Jahiz, returned to condemn the modern age for its social oppressions. His dangerous magical abilities instigate unrest in the streets of Cairo that threaten to spill over onto the global stage. Alongside her Ministry colleagues and her clever girlfriend Siti, Agent Fatma must unravel the mystery behind this imposter to restore peace to the city -or face the possibility he could be exactly who he seems…
I just do not see enough discussion about this book. There was a lot of hype regarding a short story set in this universe called A Dead Djinn in Cairo but this novel has so much more scope and brilliance in my opinion.

- Title: Belladonna
- Editor: Adalyn Grace
- Series: Belladonna #1
- Format: Paperback
- Age Rating: New Adult
- Genre: Fantasy Murder Mystery
Plot: Orphaned as a baby, nineteen-year-old Signa has been raised by a string of guardians, each more interested in her wealth than her well-being – and each has met an untimely end. Her remaining relatives are the elusive Hawthornes, an eccentric family living at Thorn Grove, an estate both glittering and gloomy. Its patriarch mourns his late wife through wild parties, while his son grapples for control of the family’s waning reputation and his daughter suffers from a mysterious illness. But when their mother’s restless spirit appears claiming she was poisoned, Signa realizes that the family she depends on could be in grave danger, and enlists the help of a surly stable boy to hunt down the killer. Signa’s best chance of uncovering the murderer, though, is an alliance with Death himself, a fascinating, dangerous shadow who has never been far from her side. Though he’s made her life a living hell, Death shows Signa that their growing connection may be more powerful – and more irresistible – than she ever dared imagine.
A really engaging and sexy murder mystery where Death himself is a main character. I flew through this book and had a great time reading it!

- Title: House of Hunger
- Editor: Alexis Henderson
- Series: Standalone
- Format: Paperback
- Age Rating: Adult
- Genre: Horror
Plot: Marion Shaw has been raised in the slums, where want and deprivation are all she knows. Despite longing to leave the city and its miseries, she has no real hope of escape until the day she spots a strange advertisement in the newspaper, seeking a ‘bloodmaid’. Though she knows little about the far north – where wealthy nobles live in luxury and drink the blood of those in their service – Marion applies to the position. In a matter of days, she finds herself at the notorious House of Hunger. There, Marion is swept into a world of dark debauchery – and there, at the centre of it all is her. Her name is Countess Lisavet. Loved and feared in equal measure, she presides over this hedonistic court. And she takes a special interest in Marion. Lisavet is magnetic, charismatic, seductive – and Marion is eager to please her new mistress. But when her fellow bloodmaids begin to go missing in the night, Marion is thrust into a vicious game of cat and mouse. She’ll need to learn the rules of her new home – and fast – or its halls will soon become her grave.
I will not shut up about this book until the day I die! So so so good! Atmospheric, rich and very tense… literally this book had me on the edge of my seat like a horror movie.
