My 2024 Reading Plan!!

And this is it my final annual post for 2023 is here for you to read. My 2024 reading plan is a bit different from normal years. 2023 was an amazing year for me but also a stressful one. I had so many amazing opportunities through work and The British Fantasy Awards and I was able to expand upon my reading but I found that this year I felt I had restricted myself too much with all my themes and goals. I didn’t really feel like I could just read want I wanted to read in moment because I had planned way too much in the year.

So, this year I wanted to strip back A LOT for 2024 and really just give myself very simple and basic goals. No more themes or complicated challenges.

How many books do I plan to read in 2023? (Goodreads Reading Challenge)

Last year I was super successful and read over 160 books. I feel confident that I will have another great reading year this year but maybe not as successful as 2023. For this year I didn’t want to over-extend myself so I have decided to keep my challenge the same as last year and challenge myself to read 100 book. I think this is easily doable and won’t stress me out.

2024 Sequels Challenge

Another challenge from last year that stays the exact same. Every year I try to stay on top of all the series I am currently in the middle of. While last year I had 24 on-going series, 2024 has 37 WHOLE SERIES and again, like last year, I am not going to be able to read all of them so I am sticking to my 12 sequels a month challenge with very high hopes that I will read more than just 12.

Here are all the sequels lined up:

Physical TBR Challenge

Now I did really well with my TBR challenge last year so I feel I could do better this time around. last year I read 41 so I want to push myself a bit more and try to read 50 books from my Physical TBR.

30 Manga Volumes in 30 Days

Last year, on TikTok, I documented myself trying to read 30 books in 30 days. I read 20 novels/novellas and I am very impressed with myself. I wanted to do it again but knew I would never want to face that many novels and I saw a BookTuber/ex-bookseller do a manga version and knew that I wanted to do the same. So, in August 2024 I want to read 30 manga volumes in 30 days.

New Releases

And finally, not a challenge but something to be mindful of. I have the privilege through both IndiaReadsaLot and my work to have received a couple of 2024 releases. Last year, I felt I was quite slack on reading and reviewing the books I received on time. While I understand publishers are understanding of the big TBRs and other commitments I do want to make sure I have a strong new release focus this year so I can get back on track.
