Last year I attempted to read 30 books in 30 days (in the month of August) and while I didn’t achieve this goal, I read 20, I was having such a great time taking part. One of my stipulations though for that year was to not read manga or graphic novels. I wanted a whole month of books.

This year though we are getting rid of that rule and doing a WHOLE MONTH of manga and graphic novels. How crazy is that. I am also trying to read a couple of novels so this is going to be an intense August.

My plan is to read both individual volumes of series and in some cases read a couple of volumes in a single series to shake things up.

Plot for Vol 1: When young adventurer Laios and his company are attacked and soundly thrashed by a dragon deep in a dungeon, the party loses all its money and provisions…and a member! Feeling lost and bored, she decides to help Kat after a chance meeting at the local diner—and, okay, it doesn’t hurt that Kat is super cute.  As the two girls grow closer not only to each other, but to uncovering the dark legacy that the town was built on, they discover that something hungry lurks beneath the strange stars and that in the hills of Estrella Roja, some secrets should stay buried.

Plot for Vol 1: In a remote mountain village under the watchful eyes of two stone guardians, the young Yuru contentedly lives off the land while staying close to the only family he has left—Asa, his precious twin sister. Asa, meanwhile, carries out a mysterious “duty” on behalf of the village while locked in a cage. Why is Asa a prisoner? And what other secrets does Yuru’s otherwise idyllic home hide?

Plot: Once there was magic in Britain. There were dragons and wizards and green knights and round tables and kings that pulled swords out of stones. Plot: The office romance between the quiet and sweet accountant Asako, who’s spent her life ashamed of how much she sweats, and rising star of the bath and toiletry world Kotaro got off to a fast and steamy start! Plot: Shirayuki is an herbalist famous for her naturally bright-red hair, and the prince of Tanbarun wants her all to himself! Unwilling to become the prince’s possession, she seeks shelter in the woods of the neighboring kingdom, where she gains an unlikely ally—the prince of that kingdom! He rescues her from her plight, and thus begins the love story between a lovestruck prince and an unusual herbalist.
