I am sad about this. This is going to be a pretty short review as I don’t have much to say about this book.

I went into this book having seen and fell in love with the movie, I think because I had seen the movie and knew what happening it hindered the reading experience for me as I was waiting for the next best thing that I had seen in the movie. Also, the movie is way more detailed than the book going into the background of all the characters we meet and the history of the world.

This book is part of my second chance challenge where I re-read books I had previously DNFd in hopes that my opinions would change but sadly that is not the case. I was fully prepared to DNF this book again as it found it to be quite boring.

On a more positive not, the worldbuilding we were given was fun and I enjoyed learning about the world Faerie and all it’s quirky ways.

I felt that all the POV’s we were given except Tristran Thorn’s were underdeveloped and very surface level. The characters didn’t really have much depth and felt very one note which was disappointing especially as I saw the movie which was the opposite. Though I would say I enjoyed reading the POV’s of the multiple Prince’s as the go on their quest to find the falling star and kill their remaining brothers.

That being said, I just needed a lot more from this story.

The next book I will be reviewing is the classic Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. I had watched an adaptation of this at the theatre and absolutely loved it. Let’s hope its the same for the book!
