It has officially happened. I read my first contemporary romance book and I am a changed woman!
Today I will be talking about some of my favourite couples in books.
Since we are coming to the end of February I thought I would include 1 last romance focused blog post. Quite a lot of these are romance focused stories but some are stories that just happen to have romance in. I have taken 9 popular romance tropes and decided to recommend 1 book for each trope! Enjoy!
I thought the 2021 reflection posts were over but I forgot about this gem. Just another post to chat about some of the amazing books I read last year. So, these are my favourite books that I read in 2021, you have probably heard me talk about these ones a lot!
Happy Valentine’s Day! Whether you celebrate it or not I thought it would be a great idea to recommend books that fit the 8 different archetypes of love from romantic to platonic. Let’s jump right in!
that I read this month I have decided to get two birds with one stone and start doing mini reviews. These are two books that I really want to talk about!
The Blood Moon rises. The Blood Veil falls. The Tournament begins.
Every generation, at the coming of the Blood Moon, seven families in the remote city of Ilvernath each name a champion to compete in a tournament to the death.
The prize? Exclusive control over a secret wellspring of high magick, the most powerful resource in the world–one thought long depleted.
This year, thanks to a salacious tell-all book, the seven champions are thrust into worldwide spotlight, granting each of them new information, new means to win, and most importantly: a choice – accept their fate or rewrite their story.
But this is a story that must be penned in blood.
Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death.
When Laia’s grandparents are brutally murdered and her brother arrested for treason by the empire, the only people she has left to turn to are the rebels.
But in exchange for their help in saving her brother, they demand that Laia spy on the ruthless Commandant of Blackcliff, the Empire’s greatest military academy. Should she fail it’s more than her brother’s freedom at risk . . . Laia’s very life is at stake.
There, she meets Elias, the academy’s finest soldier. But Elias wants only to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia will soon realize that their destinies are intertwined – and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself.
In the near future, people use technology to give the illusion of all kinds of body modifications—but some people have “Egan’s Syndrome,” a highly sensitive immune system that rejects these “mods” and are unable to use them. Those who are affected maintain a “natural” appearance, reliant on cosmetics and hair dye at most to help them play with their looks. Sunati is attracted to Austen the first time she sees her and is drawn to what she assumes is Austen’s bravery and confidence to live life unmodded. When Sunati learns the truth, she’s still attracted to Austen and asks her on a date. Gradually, their relationship unfolds as they deal with friends, family, and the emotional conflicts that come with every romance. Together, they will learn and grow in a story that reminds us no matter how technology evolves, we will remain . . . always human.
Doctor Andreas Marino loves his quiet life, filled with work and simple amusements, and when the strange Cati Abbott arrives in his town he decides he doesn’t like her at all. Unfortunately, she’s funny and quirky, has an uncommon past and seems to enjoy getting him in trouble.
